1st Sudoku World Championship

Eighty-eight participants coming from 22 different countries joined the the ongoing Sudoku World Championship in Lucca, Italy . We were overwhelmed by the attention of the media in this contest. Two huge rooms were filled with press people from around the world. Our contestants, Alvin Belleza and Kendrick Saavedra (both from Ateneo) were interviewed and photographed by press people from France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and some other non-English speaking countries. (Of course, we could not understand the non-English speaking press so they just took photos.)

Before going to Italy, we stayed overnight in Rome, 100 meters away from St Peters Cathedral. Aside from visiting the cathedral, the contestants enjoyed the tour to the Coleseo and many other beautiful spots in Rome.
