National Mathematics Conference

Here is an announcement from MTAP:

In response to a request from some quarters outside Metro Manila, the MTAP is preparing for a National Mathematics Conference entitled "Strengthening the Role of Mathematics Teachers" to be held at Teachers' Camp in Baguio City on MAy 3-5, 2006.
Some of the topics already identified are:

• Basic Education Sector Reformed Agenda
• Growth Strategies in Math Education
• Current Trends in Math Education
• The Philippine Elementary/Secondary Curriculum - A discussion of some of the problems/misconceptions met in the field and possible solutions
• Multiple Intelligence of Learners - How to deal with them
• Articulation: Bridging the Gap Between Elementary and Secondary Education Curricula
• Constructing Quality Test Questions
• Open-ended Problem Solving

The final topics may not be exactly all of the above because we are still trying to identify more urgent/interesting topics or issues.
