Phil Team Wins Super Relay Round in ARML 2005

Four members of the Philippine team bag medals for their meritorious performance in the Individual Round of the recently concluded American Regions Math League (ARML). They are:Alvin Belleza (Ateneo High School), Anna Patricia Miravite(Philippine Science High School),
Calvin Lim(St. Stephens High School), Emerson Escolar(Grace Christian High School).

The contest was held in San Jose State University, San Jose, California last June 3 and 4. The delegation consists of 15 Filipino high school math wizards with the author as Team Leader and Ms Yujuico, the head of the mathematics department of Philippine Science High School, as Deputy Team Leader. The other members of the team are: Chiara Rosario Lanuza and Stephanie Anne Oliveros(Philippine Science High School),John Carlos Clerigo and Leo Patrick Telosa(San Beda College, Alabang), Galvin Lester Dy and Daniel Andrew Tan(Grace Christian HS),Raymond Tan(Jubilee Christain School), Austin Pua(UNO HS),Darren Mendell Sy and Davin Choi(Chaing Kai Shek College), and Angeline Baniqued (St Paul College,Pasig).

The team also wowed the audience including both local and international participants when they won the Super Relay Round. (In this round each of the 15-member team receives a question numbered 1 to 15. Student no. 2 can only answer his question if he receives a correct answer from student 1. Similarly, student 14 will only be able to answer his problem if he gets the correct answer from student no. 15. The process continues until student 8 receives the answer of student 9 and student 7. Only the answer of student 8 will be submitted and corrected. The fastest team to give the correct answer wins. )
